Tribal Outreach

Department of Psychology annually conducts workshops on Vocational and Career Counselling for tribal students. These workshops have been conducted for students of Shaskiya Madhyamik Ashramshala at Gunj, Palghar Zilla, Thane District and also at Ambiste High School and Junior College, Ambiste, PalgharZilla, Thane District. These workshops include information on courses avalaible to students around their district. It also includes information on freeships and scholarhips given by government for tribal students. This helps students to plan their future better and avail the opportunities given by the government for the marginalized.

Summer Camp

NCC and NSS Unit organize a week-long summer camp from 4th June 2024 to 10th June 2024 in Vanicha Pada, Aarey Colony at Goregaon East. The camp aimed to foster community engagement, promote health and education, and empower local residents through various activities and workshops. In this Summer Camp the age group from 3 years to 16 years children were involved.

Objectives:

  • Promote Health and Wellness: Encourage physical fitness and mental well-being through yoga, exercise, and self-defence training.
  • Environmental Awareness: Educate the community about the importance of environmental conservation and water preservation.
  • Educational Support: Provide educational games and storytelling sessions to enhance learning among children.
  • Cultural Exchange: Facilitate cultural activities to strengthen community bonds and preserve local traditions.

On 25th December 2024, Shram Daan at Vanicha Pada: During residential camp, the group of 20 volunteers were went to Vanicha Pada , Array Colony. There they taught the children about health and hygiene, the positive and negative impacts of mobile phones, and engaged them in storytelling. They also tolled a moral based stories. More than 50 children were participated, and they were divided into groups for the activities. One NSS program officer accompanied the team. The volunteers then celebrated the Christmas festival with the children, distributing chocolates and Frooti juice to everyone.
