  • The Counselling center addresses the needs of the students, parent, lectures, their families and neighborhood. Apart from the individual Counselling sessions, group sessions are held to spread Mental Health and well-being. Psychologists, doctors, nutritionists, chartered accountants, lawyers, provide specialized counselling services.
  • A unique feature is the placement of MA students in the counselling center as interns. Services by these post graduate students especially in the form of workshops conducted by them have added a unique dimension to the ethos of the college.

SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK - Report 2019

The Department of Psychology along with Samvedna Counselling Cell of Maniben.M.P College of Arts and Commerce, Matunga, observed The World Suicide Prevention Week from 9th September 2019 to 14th September 2019 which included Making Posters, Slogans, Blogs, A Guest lecture and a Movie screening to discuss and create more awareness about the growing rate of Suicide as well the importance of prevention of the same.

The First day, 9th September 2019 was an E-submission of Posters and Slogans that were made by the undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Second day, 10th September 2019 Celebrated as World Suicide Prevention Day included E-submission of Blogs that were written by undergraduate and postgraduate students to help break the stigma around suicide. The Third day, 11th September 2019 consisted submission of Suicide Prevention Modules by M.A Part 2 students. The fourth day i.e. 12th September 2019 was showcasing some articles, quotes related to suicide prevention in the college campus. The fifth day , 13th September 2019 was a Guest Lecture by Ms. Neha Sutaria on “Understanding and Detecting Early Signs of Suicide among Students” for the teaching faculty.The sixth day, 14th September 2019 was a Movie Screening (Short Films) followed by a Discussion for the Post Graduate Student on the Theme of Suicide and Support.

The Aim of Observing the Suicide Prevention week was not only to create awareness butto also instil empathy and simple understanding ofbeing there for others.
