Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at King’s Circle Station

NSS Unit organized Swachha Bharat Pakwada from 02ndAugust to 16th August 2018 in this week our NSS Volunteers make the posters, slogan, Rally, & Door to Door awareness to aware about cleanliness among the students and society. NSS volunteers also clean the college premises, as well as our adopted area wadala gate no. 4, King Circle Railway Station & Mamnoli Village. Beside thisour NSS PO's and volunteer has took Swachhta Shapath (Oath).

Vocational Assessment at M P Bhuta Sion Sarvajanik School

Department of Psychology provides free Psychological services to Andhra Education Society’s High School Wadala, Mumbai through Samvedana Counselling Centre. The counsellor provides personal counseling for students for academic and emotional problems. Students are given free Vocational Assessment and Career Counselling. Counsellor, along with the student interns, also conducts workshops on emotional and social skills training, as well as for academic enhancement. This helps our department reach out to the underprivileged within our vicinity and gives us an opportunity to extend our services for betterment of society.

Department has also conducted free Vocational Assessment and Counselling for students of M P BhutaSionSarvajanik School. Students attempted aptitude and interests tests which were later evaluated by the faculty members and MA students. Each student received personal reports for their assessment and counseling was conducted for them.

Department of Psychology regularly conducts workshops for children of the orphanage managed by ManavSevaSangh, Sion. These workshops are conducted by faculty members and MA students. These workshops focus on enhancing emotional and social skills of children through interactive play and discussions.

The F.C. papers attempt to inculcate among students’, skills to understand and analyze social structure, develop critical understanding about personality development, understand contemporary social concerns. To appreciate the role of social work in dealing with contemporary concerns and to develop an understanding in dealing with social concerns, 123 B.A II students English and Gujarati Medium were divided into groups and sent to different NGOs for the Internship for a fortnight from January to March 2017.

Beach Clean Up Drive

On 25th January 2025, 10 NSS volunteers actively participated in a Beach Cleanup Drive at Carter Beach, in collaboration with ConnectFor (NGO). The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage responsible waste management by removing litter and plastic waste from the shoreline. Through this effort, volunteers not only contributed to preserving marine life and maintaining a clean coastal environment but also inspired the local community to take part in sustainable practices. Such initiatives highlight the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Shram Daan At Reay Road Railway Station

On 26th December 2024, A group of 20 volunteers has went to the Reay Road Station for the Cleanliness Drive and along with this activity the volunteers chanting the slogan on keep the station clean, with station staff they clean the railway station.

Historical Heritage Visit

On 30th July 2024, the NSS Unit organized a Historical Heritage Visit for 35 junior and senior students, accompanied by Rakesh Singh. The visit aimed to provide students with insights into India’s rich history and culture by exploring significant historical sites. Through this immersive experience, students had the opportunity to learn about the architectural marvels, cultural heritage, and historical significance of various monuments. Such visits play a crucial role in fostering a deeper appreciation for the country’s legacy, encouraging students to connect with their roots, and promoting the importance of heritage conservation.

Workshop On Eco-Friendly Ganesha Making

2 September 2024, NSS unit organized a workshop on Eco-Friendly Ganesha Making, conducted by Ms. Shruti Vashishtha from Sanskar Foundation. The workshop aimed to create awareness about the environmental impact of traditional Ganesha idol-making materials and promote sustainable practices during festivals. 26 students participated in this hands-on workshop, learning how to create eco-friendly Ganesha idols using natural and biodegradable materials.

Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan

On 5th September 2024, as part of the Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan project, the NSS Unit organized a comprehensive cleanliness campaign that focused on both the college campus and the community. The initiative began with a campus cleaning drive where 30 NSS volunteers and 3 Program Officers (POs) actively participated. Various areas of the college, including classrooms, corridors, and open spaces, were thoroughly cleaned, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy learning environment.

Following this, a group of 15 NSS volunteers extended their efforts to Reay Road Station for a community-focused cleanliness drive. As part of this initiative, the volunteers performed an engaging skit to raise awareness about the Swachhta Hi Seva mission, showcasing the significance of cleanliness in daily life. Additionally, they conducted a spirited Swachhta Rally, carrying posters and chanting impactful slogans to inspire the public to adopt cleanliness in public spaces. This dual effort not only reinforced the message of cleanliness within the campus but also spread awareness to the wider community, reflecting the NSS Unit’s dedication to fostering civic responsibility and environmental stewardship.

Mega Beach Cleanup

28th September 2024, Smt. MMP Shah Women's College of Arts and Commerce in association with Future India NGO, is conducting a Mega Beach Cleanup at Dadar aligning with the theme 'Swachhata Hi Seva.' 35 volunteers and one NSS Program Officer has been participated in this community service initiative.

Swachhata Hi Seva" Awareness Rally

1st October 2024, Smt. MMP Shah Women's College's NSS Unit organized a "Swachhata Hi Seva" Awareness Rally from college to Maheshwari Circle. 65 NSS volunteers and 2 Program Officers participated, spreading cleanliness and community service awareness through posters and slogans. After the rally, the volunteers returned to their classrooms and took the Swachhata Shapath, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Cleanliness Drive

23rd October 2024, NSS unit of Smt. MMP Shah Women's College, Matunga, organized a cleanliness drive at the Sion Koliwada vegetable market, supported by social worker Shri Jasbir Singh Bira. A total of 28 students participated, actively cleaning the market area to promote hygiene and community well-being. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about maintaining a clean environment in public spaces.

Voting Awareness Rally

23rd October 2024, NSS unit of MMP Shah Women's College, Matunga, organized a voting awareness rally in the Sion Koliwada area. The event featured posters and slogans to encourage voter participation. A group of students performed a skit titled "Chhod ke Apne Sare Kaam - Chalo Karen Pehle Matdan" to emphasize the message that voting is a fundamental right. The rally aimed to raise awareness about the importance of exercising the right to vote in a democratic society.

24th October 2024, Following the direction of Wadala Vidhan Sabha Matdar Sangh, the NSS unit of Smt. MMP Shah Women's College, Matunga, in collaboration with the Leo Club of the college, organized a Voting Awareness Rally. The event featured posters and slogans to encourage voter participation. A group of students performed a skit titled "Chhod ke Apne sare kaam, chalo karen pehle Matdan" at Maheshwari Udyan, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing voting.

On 15th November 2024, the NSS unit, Green Club, NCC Cell, Leo Club of MMP Shah College in collaboration with 180 Wadala Vidhansabha Matdar Sangh, organized a Voting Awareness Rally led by Shri Surendra Sawant. 176 students participated, carrying banners and posters promoting the importance of voting.

The rally was flagged off by Principal Dr. Archana Patki and concluded at Wadala station, where participants took a voting oath. The initiative aimed to raise awareness, encourage youth participation, and instill civic responsibility, fostering active citizenship among students. Dr. Rekha Shelar, Ms. Soni Singh, Suvarna Joshi has lead the rally along with the students.

Volunteers On Election Duty

On 20th November 2024, Fifty-nine NSS volunteers from our institution actively participated in today's Election by volunteering at various polling booths. This endeavor demonstrates their commitment to civic responsibility and community service, aligning perfectly with the NSS motto, "Not Me But You". Through their participation, our volunteers gained hands-on experience in democracy and contributed to the smooth conduct of the electoral process, including assisting voters, providing information and facilitating the voting process with integrity and transparency. This initiative showcases the institution's dedication to fostering responsible citizenship and community engagement among its students.

Kala Ghoda Festival

On 29th January 2025, the NSS Unit organized a field visit to the Kala Ghoda Art Festival, with 30 NSS volunteers, one Program Officer, and one teacher participating. The visit aimed to sensitize volunteers to art, heritage, and culture through exhibits, performances and installations. This immersive experience enhanced their appreciation of creativity and the importance of cultural preservation.
