Our Honorable Prime Minister launched the “Swachh Bharat” mission on 2 nd October 2014 and invited the citizens to contribute to the movement towards a cleaner India. He specially urged the youth of the country to channelize their energies towards this productive cause. He called upon the universities to adopt at least 5 villages for the cleanliness campaign. He envisioned that the work should not stop at cleanliness of the villages but also strive to bring about positive changes in the society by involving students in a series of constructive and socially responsible activities thus transforming the village into an “Adarsh” village.
Our NSS unit joined this noble initiative and adopted Wadala gate No. 4 slum in June 2015 for five years. A baseline survey of 105 families was undertaken to find out their problems. The NSS Volunteers regularly visit the area for several activities such as “Swacchta Abhiyaan”, awareness rally for various social issues, income generating schemes demonstration, MPSC/ UPSC Guidance, Medical Check-up, etc.
This year our college has conducted a survey in Mamnoli village near Kalyan. The pilot survey was done in January 2017 and 250 families were covered in February 2017. “Swachhta Abhiyaan” has been undertaken in the area. The village is being considered for adoption by our institution for future development and to take forward the vision of our Prime Minister.
